At Cuisine sans frontières we ask you to the table to resolve conflicts and to foster a community spirit. Cooking and eating together improves our quality of life: conversations take place, relationships are built and problems solved, thereby strengthening the foundations of every community. These everyday experiences form the base of Cuisine sans frontières’ activities.
Csf builds gastronomic meeting places and training facilities in areas of (social) conflict, always in cooperation with a local partnering organisation. Our goal is at all times to secure the long-term independent economic sustainability of the projects.
Csf oversees the initial project phases and the setting up of operations. Until the projects are handed over to the local partners Csf provides support in the form of volunteers, practical know-how and financial aid. Csf has run projects in Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Georgia, Kenya, the DCR and the asylum seekers’ centre Juch in Zurich.
Our non-profit organization was founded in Zurich in 2005. We currently have around 500 members and are funded by donations, membership contributions and our fundraising event Kitchen Battle.
Our volunteers achieve extraordinary work: They give over 6750 hours of their time each year! For our Kitchen Battle Tour we rely on our extensive network and receive countless donations in-kind and in the form of infrastructure in the value of over 260’000 Swiss Francs.
Our five honorary board members decide on the appropriation of funds and nominate a manager in charge of the professional implementation of the projects.
