Since January 2020, the Federal Asylum Center Zurich has been operating on the Duttweiler Areal. The Asylum Organization Zurich (AOZ), on behalf of the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM), looks after the maximum of 360 residents. The BAZ Zurich is home to men, women, families and unaccompanied minors who have been assigned to the Zurich Asylum Region by the SEM and who are currently undergoing asylum proceedings. The maximum length of stay at BAZ Zurich is 140 days.
As a successor to the Juch project, a Csf team cooks once a month with and for the residents of the BAZ Zurich. The cooking in the afternoon is concluded with a joint dinner at long tables. Csf sees it as its task to support the social contacts among the residents of BAZ Zürich. The goal is to promote community, reduce social tensions and thus improve the quality of life of the refugees. Thus, a meeting place is created where a mixture between refugees and locals is possible.
The organizers of these events at BAZ Zurich are Cuisine sans frontières, the AOZ - Asylum Organization Zurich and the residents of BAZ Zurich.
The project is generously supported by the SV Foundation.
