In addition to the successful Csf training ship, which travels on the Rio Napo, Csf has established El Fogon, a more advanced gastronomic-tourism training program. This enables the indigenous population to create a new livelihood in the emerging ecotourism in the region.
El Fogon is a twelve-month training program designed to enable the 25 students per course to gain practical training skills that lay the foundation for a career in the gastronomy or tourism industry. The collaboration with the UEA University in Puyo provides the graduates with a state-recognized diploma which they can use to find work throughout Ecuador.
El Fogon's training provides knowledge and practical know-how, but also helps to promote the self-responsibility of indigenous students and support them in preserving their cultural identity. The main focus of the course is on the following: Gastronomy, environmental protection, hotel management, languages, marketing and tourism promotion.
In 2019, Csf established this course and the first students graduated in the summer of 2021.
Gate Gourmet Switzerland is the exclusive partner of this project and supports it financially as well as with internships for graduates.
The Corymbo Foundation (2019 and 2020) and the Green Leaves Education Foundation (2020) as well as the hotel Acasa Suites Zürich (2021) generously support this project.
