What we do

Cuisine sans frontières invites to the table to resolve conflicts and foster community spirit. Cooking and eating together improves our quality of life: conversations take place, relationships are built and problems solved, thereby strengthening the foundations of every community. These everyday experiences form the base of Cuisine sans frontières’ activities.

Csf builds gastronomic meeting places and training facilities in areas of (social) conflict, always in cooperation with a local partnering organisation. Our goal is at all times to secure the long-term independent economic sustainability of the projects.

Csf oversees the initial project phases and the setting up of operations. Until the projects are handed over to the local partners Csf provides support in the form of volunteers, practical know-how and financial aid. To date, Csf has realized more than 20 projects in eleven countries on three continents.

Our non-profit organization was founded in Zurich in 2005. We currently have more than 700 members and are funded by donations, membership contributions and our fundraising event Kitchen Battle. Our volunteers achieve extraordinary work: They give more than 6000 hours of their time each year!

Our honorary board members decide on the appropriation of funds and nominate the management.
