The project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is Cuisine sans frontières’s second on the African continent and is located in one of its largest and most-populated countries. After the exploitation during the Belgian colonial period, the authoritarian Mobutu government, a drawn-out civil war and persistent violent conflicts in several parts of the country it is also one of the poorest countries in the world. Cuisine sans frontières is making a commitment where the future of the DRC is at stake: the education of its children.
The project Tala Mosika is building a boarding school in Selo, a village circa two hours drive from the capital Kinshasa. The aim is to provide the children of the local community with an education and to support them on their way to a self-sustained life. Csf is building the school canteen and dining areas and provides training for the staff in how to optimise the workflow in a large kitchen and basic hygiene knowledge.
