In the fall of 2015 thousands of refugees arrived daily at Senteli/Spielfeld at the border between Slovenia and Austria. They come from Syria, Afghanistan and many other countries and most of them want to travel on to northern and western Europe. According to the Austrian authorities those refugees are not entitled to a warm meal as they are in the country for less than twelve hours. In reality many of them remain at Spielfeld for longer despite their intentions to continue on their journey. This creates an untenable situation in the face of the approaching winter.
TWO - The Welcoming Organization’s tent kitchen is an attempt to prevent this shortfall in food provision. Dozens of volunteers provide warm meals for the refugees and thereby help preventing a humanitarian crisis in the heart of Europe. The refugee crisis in our neighbouring countries presents a real challenge to authorities and communities alike. It can only be met by initiatives like TWO’s kitchen.
In October 2015 Cuisine sans frontières initiated the cooperation with TWO, went for a visit in November and provides financial and creative support.
This project is made possible by the generous financial support offered by the SV Stiftung and Swisslex AG.
