At the dining table, conversations are held, relationships are built, and problems are solved.

Mission Statement

At Cuisine sans frontières (Csf) we invite to the table to foster communities and resolve conflicts.

Independent Organization

  • Csf is a non-profit association dedicated to establishing culturally and socially enriching meeting places and training centers in crisis areas in collaboration with the local population. The association is based in Zurich.
  • Csf operates independently—politically, religiously, and financially—and acts neutrally on the ground. As a non-profit organization, Csf is funded through donations, membership fees, gastro-cultural events, and public funds.

Work on the Ground and Partnerships

  • Through concrete projects, Csf aims to sustainably improve the prospects of the local population and promote economic independence.
  • The selection of projects is managed by the executive office and the board, based on a defined set of criteria. A key requirement for Csf is the presence of a competent and committed civil society organization on-site. Collaboration with other aid organizations is also possible.
  • For the establishment and implementation of projects – as well as for intercultural exchange – Swiss volunteers with relevant expertise can be deployed on-site. These volunteers at Csf serve on an unpaid basis, while local staff are compensated according to standard local wages.

Project Evaluation

  • Csf welcomes project proposals. The prerequisites for a new project include the possibility of direct collaboration with local partners and the potential for long-term economic self-sufficiency.

Efficient Organizational Structures

  • Csf is committed to operating with streamlined organizational structures. Equal and respectful collaboration with all partners is at the core of our work.
