Cuisine sans frontières is running a gastronomy course for residents of the Triemli collective housing facility, together with volunteer hospitality professionals. Cooking and sharing meals creates genuine connection: between residents of the facility, people from different parts of the world, hospitality professionals, and home cooks. Everyone learns from each other. The recipes come from the participants themselves and are cooked together during the course. Over 10 Monday evenings, they build practical skills in cooking and service. As a finale, we organise a big summer party together for all residents of the facility.

Many people living in collective housing facilities miss a fundamental everyday activity: cooking. In federal asylum centres and collective housing facilities, there is often no opportunity to cook for yourself.
For people who are passionate about cooking or want to enter the hospitality industry, Cuisine sans frontières is organising a series of course evenings together with the Asylorganisation Zürich (AOZ) and volunteer hospitality professionals at Schulhaus Döltschi. The evenings are dedicated to cooking, learning, and eating together. Cooking and sharing meals creates genuine connection: between residents of the facility, people from different parts of the world, hospitality professionals, and home cooks.
On the first evening, participants bring their favourite dishes from home. Those who wish can bring a recipe and show the group how it's cooked back home. This way, everyone learns from each other. Over 10 Monday evenings, the group works together on practical gastronomy fundamentals: kitchen hygiene and safety, cutting techniques and cooking methods, and the basics of service. German for the kitchen is practised hands-on. Every evening, the group eats together what they have cooked.
As a finale, we organise a summer party for all residents of SKU Triemli. The evening before, participants cook from their own recipes for the event. On the day of the party, a large group of volunteers helps out and the participants get to simply enjoy it.
